3 Day First Aid at Work + Forestry (FAIB Approved)

The FAW+F course is ideal for staff working in the forestry industry. The Forestry Commission recommend that in addition to the standard FAW course content that the following extra subjects are covered – severe bleeding(chainsaw injury), crush injury, hypothermia & Lyme Disease. Employers should carry out an assessment of first aid needs to determine the number of staff required to be qualified in First Aid at Work + Forestry.

Course content: first aid equipment & accident reporting / how to prevent cross infection / managing an incident / priorities of first aid / adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) / child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (optional) / defibrillation / treatment of choking adult (child and infant optional) / treatment of unconscious casualty including seizure / treatment of wounds and bleeding / treatment for shock / treatment for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes, splinters and bruises) / recognition and treatment of heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, diabetes & asthma / chest injuries / eye injuries / burns and scalds / poisoning / anaphylaxis / dealing with injuries to bones, muscles & joints / dealing with head & suspected spinal injuries / severe bleeding(chainsaw injury) / crush injury / hypothermia / Lyme Disease.

Assessment: Continuous assessment by trainer & multiple choice questions

Certificate: A First Rescue certificate, valid for three years, is issued on successful completion of the course. This course is approved by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB)
